Ginkgo Restaurant and Café: Reviews & Ratings
Wasn’t sure what to expect but the food was excellent. Had a salmon BLT and everything was fresh and delicious. Love all the drink and snack options as well. Nice views of the trees from within the restaurant
Allergen menus are not available. Even with a sign on the register that said to ask if you have allergens the cashier simply told us "no" when we asked. It's very hard to order food when your child has a dairy allergy! None of the items on the children's menu looked suitable, so I ordered a vegan meal and my child tried it. Not a total loss, but fair warning to other allergy parents that this place is not very Allergy friendly, make sure to pack a lunch instead. The food was decent, the room is beautiful!
I attended a KW gala night at the Morton Arboretum – Ginkgo Room yesterday evening, and the atmosphere was absolutely amazing. The views were beautiful, and the overall ambiance felt very high-end and elegant—perfect lighting, great layout, and a refined yet welcoming vibe. It truly felt like a special event space. The drinks and appetizers were very good. The shrimp cocktail stood out—the shrimp were large, fresh, and delicious. The pasta was good as well. The only small letdown was the bruschetta, which was a bit disappointing compared to everything else. Overall, the Ginkgo Room is a stunning venue with an upscale feel and a memorable atmosphere. I would absolutely recommend it for galas, corporate events, and special celebrations.
The food was not terrible but not special. Maybe a step above cafeteria style food.
Everything is clearly marked GF, veg, vegan. I created my own vegan dish: the stir fry minus the noodles (contain egg) and added tofu. It was pretty good.
This is an excellent cafe, located inside the Information Center of The Morton Arboretum. The dining area overlooks a pond. The menu is great.
Ginkgo Catering did an incredible job at Colleen and Matt’s wedding! The food was beautifully presented, delicious, and received endless compliments from guests. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, adding a wonderful touch to the overall experience. As Bozena Voytko Photography, I could see the care they put into every plate, making the meal both a visual and culinary highlight of the day. Highly recommend Ginkgo Catering for anyone wanting top-notch service and unforgettable flavors at their event!
Delighted to discover that the Gingko Restaurant is open in the evening for Illumination (holiday lights) events. After experiencing the light displays, we stopped for a meal. So many vegan and vegetarian choices on the menu. Other museums and venues could take a lesson from this! We ordered and enjoyed the Korean Stirfry. It was a little salty for me, but ample portions and reasonable prices. Served piping hot. Hot cider was delicious. Lots of seating in the clean dining area, including seats by the expansive windows overlooking the lights for the Illumination finale. That was a treat and a fun way to wrap up the evening. Our only issues were customer service focused. We had to ask for napkins and were given just two for meals that have a fair amount of juice. Also, we paid for my husband to have roasted vegetables added to his entree, but it looked just like mine in portion size. When I asked the server, he said he didn't know. No offer to check or to make it right. We were tired, so didn't press the point. But they will lose customers if this is a pattern. Note: As with most museums and cultural centers, the food venues are run by a different company, not by the Arboretum.
